Aero 353 now has a state-of-the art CO sensor that immediately reacts to the presence of CO. It was designed for pilots who want the unit to be small so it takes up a minimum of panel space, yet gives peace of mind. Internal Fan for optimum sensing. Designed for all Piston (Single and Twin Engine Aircraft). Shielded to prevent EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference) with Aircraft systems. Audible alarm with varying pitch at 85DB. Front panel lighting (Green and Red). CO Sensor tested to 15,000 feet. Temperature range 0 F° to 110 F°. Built in Temperature compensating circuit The sensor can detect CO as low as 30 parst per million (ppm) and up to 999 ppm. *** Presently, this unit is for use only for home built aircraft. For installation on certified aircraft, you will need to get a field approval from FAA on Form 337. ***

The primary function of the unit is to monitor CO levels from 30 to 999 ppm. If the CO level is above 50 ppm, but less than 100 PPM, the amber light will go on. The light will change to red if CO rises to above 101 PPM in less than three minutes and an audible 85db alarm will sound. The alarm can be silenced by pressing the test reset button. The panel light will however stay on until the CO level returns to below 50 PPM. But there is a lot more to this new warning system. The 353 now has a built in pressure sensor tested to 15,000 feet. Similar to hypoxia, this becomes more critical as altitude increases and the body's tolerance to CO decreases. The unit has dual light LED alarm Amber less 99 PPM and Red 100 PPM).

Even when you have your noise-canceling headsets in place, you will be able to hear the 85db alarm.
